Rangers headed to Game 7 in Washington.

The New York Rangers, after a horrible 4-o loss in Washington headed home with high hopes to win the series in 4 games to 2 on home ice in front of the infamous blue seats. Yet, the Capitals had something else in mind, that was far from the glorious win for the New York Rangers on home ice.

7:09 into the first period Cap's Jurcina silenced the bouncing Blue Seats with a goal on Henrik Lundqvist. Although a minute later Ranger's Gomez came back to tie the game at one, it wouldn't be enough to shock the Cap's bench and knock them on their heals.

9:59 into the first period, Cap's Brashear laid a low, cheap, uncalled for hit on Ranger's centre Blair Betts, sending him off of the ice. Betts was a key contributor to the Ranger's Power Play Kill which suffered as Mike Green of the Cap's scored a goal at 13:53 making the score 2-1.

In the first period the Caps would score another goal, making the Rangers down by a pair. At the end of the first period, it looked as though the Rangers still had a chance to get back into the game and pull the series toward them.

In the second period, however, the Rangers had no more push to their game as they did in the first, and in return, the lead grew. The Capitals took two more goals making the score a deadly 5-1. One of the goals being scored on the power play by Alexander Ovechkin.

The third period, down by four, had no effect on the Rangers. Even the pull of their star goaltender Henrik Lundqvist didn't make them flinch or set a fire under them to win the game.
They stayed in their bench silent and shocked as they saw the potential win slip through their fingers. Although they had a small rally in the third period, getting two 5 on 3's, they only managed to score two goals to make the score a little less painful on the Garden Faithful.

The Rangers would end up losing to the Caps 5-3 on home ice. This is not the first time the Capitals had come back from a 3-1 on the series. Last year they had done it against the Flyer's, forcing a game seven, which they lost. Many of the Garden Faithful have small hope for the Victory of the Rangers in Washington, but there's always a possibility. As the saying goes, it's not over until it's over. And the series will be over on Tuesday night sending one team to the second round and one team to the off-season.

Maxime Talbot Brings the Energy

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Philadelphia Flyers

Going into the second period, the Pittsburgh Penguins were down 3-0, meanwhile the Philadelphia Flyers saw a game seven in their futures. That was, until Max Talbot and Daniel Carcillo got in a scrap. Carcillo punched Talbot to the ice. Both got a five minute major penalty for fighting. The fight brought the life back to the Pens.

13 seconds later, Ruslan Fedotenko of Pittsburgh, poked the puck behind Martin Biron. The goal was assisted by Evgeni Malkin. The second goal, 6:32 into the second period, was scored by  Mark Eaton, assisted by Tyler Kennedy and Ruslan Fedotenko. Sidney Crosby, who needs no introduction, tied up the game just minutes before the second period was over. Bill Guerin and Kristopher Letang assisted the kid.

Sidney Crosby

The third period Sergei Goncahr slapshoted his way past Flyers goalie, giving his team the lead. Sidney Crosby scored an empty netter, 19:32 left in the game. With that, Penguins win the series 4-2 and move to the second round.

Sidney Crosby #87 of the Pittsburgh Penguin trips over Arron Asham #45 of the Philadelphia Flyers during Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the Wachovia Center on Saturday in Philadelphia.

And now, the Flyers must wait another year to pursue their dreams of winning the first Stanley Cup championship since 1975.

Detroit Sweeps Columbus

Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets

The Red Wings easily hold off the Blue Jackets to make it to round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In the fourth game, Jackets wouldn't die easily. By the end of the third period, the game was tied 5-5, but due to a too many men on the ice calling 1:34 left in the game, Columbus messed up big time. Seconds later, Johan Franzen, shot a loose puck into the rookie goalie, Steve Mason's net.

Despite being swept in their first ever playoff series in franchise history, the Blue Jackets are looking forward in their hockey careers. Determined to make the playoffs next year and seriously kick some butt.

Now the Red Wings sit and wait, finding out who they will play in the next round.
